California's State History runs really fast from 1846 to 1850. Wanting freedom from Mexico the 1846 Bear Flag Revolt happened, then next the end of the Mexican American War which gave the territory to the USA in 1848, finding Gold in that same year. Then in 1849 everyone flocking to California. The population going from about 14,000 to about 223,000 in two years. Statehood was confirmed as a Free State on September 9, 1850. California is the 31st State of the Union.
